Teach through interaction...

Ag Heritage is a unique interactive learning experience making an ideal day trip for classes of all sizes. On a guided tour students will explore the HeritageVillage, visit the National Dairyuseum, walk through the colonial exhibits, and take part in a wash demonstration. Then why not break for lunch with a picnic by the lake?
Students will have the opportunity to handle objects, try out equipment, and talk to volunteer staff who remember the early days.

Making your job easier: Ag Heritage Resource Kit
Focusing on the New Zealand Social Studies, Science, and Technology curriculum, a Resource Kit is available to make additional lessons on Ag Heritage a breeze for teachers. The Resource Kit provides ideas and a basis for lesson plans linked to National Curriculum Aims for Levels 1-6, and also contains background information on Ag Heritage and New Zealand agriculture.

Tailored to your needs
A visit to Ag Heritage can provide a broad overview of colonial life, or we can tailor the students’ experience to suit your requirements. If you would like to focus on a particular area such as transport, leisure, agriculture, dairy industry, family life, social issues, or local history, by talking to us in advance we can tailor your visit to complement your current lesson programme.
